Packing and heavy lifting help

A packing or loading request can be a narrow job: a whole pack day, a loading-crew afternoon, or a small crew to get a safe out of the basement.
When you don't need a full truck day
A lot of requests fit a smaller shape:
- Labor-only crew. You've rented the truck or dropped a container in the driveway, and what you want is people to load or unload it instead of doing the heavy lifting solo. Crews bring pads and dollies and turn your rental into a day that gets done right.
- Pack day. Wrapping, boxing, room labels, the kitchen boxes nobody wants to face, and a week of backache avoided. The load day comes later with the pack already done.
- One heavy piece. A piano to the second floor, a safe out of the basement, a sectional that only fit the old staircase half-taken-apart. A small crew with real equipment is a different event from strong friends and a prayer.
What makes these jobs go smoothly
- An honest list. Box count, room count, and access notes on paper before the crew ever pulls up. Guesses are how a two-person job turns into a three-person job twenty minutes in.
- The right equipment. Shoulder dollies, stair climbers, four-wheel dollies, and pads. You cannot improvise equipment onto a load.
- Stair talk. Narrow stairs with a turn in them, basement loads with low ceilings, garages at the end of a long driveway. The estimate that notes them holds up.
The rate conversation
Rates come as a written estimate once you describe the job: crew size, hours, and drive time set the scale. When the access is unusual, skip the phone guess and let the estimate say it on paper.
When is the help worth it?
- When the heavy things are genuinely heavy: a safe, a piano, a loaded shop cabinet. Equipment and practice beat good intentions every time.
- When the move window is narrow and a pack day plus a load day plans your whole timeline instead of improvising it.
- When somebody in the house shouldn't be carrying a dresser down a flight of stairs, whatever their opinion on the matter.
