Moving to Vashon Island
No road bridge reaches Vashon. Every truck and mattress crosses the water on the Fauntleroy ferry out of West Seattle, and the boat's vehicle space caps truck size for the day. A missed sailing can leave a half-loaded truck waiting on the dock, so the mover covering the island builds the schedule around the ferry times both directions.
The crossing
The day gets built around sailing times, and a bigger job can turn into two crossings. When you send the request, the dates you give are the ones the ferry has to agree with, so a little slack in the schedule is worth more here than anywhere else in the county.
The island roads
Outside the town center the roads run slow, narrow, and rural. The last three island miles can take longer than the thirty before them, and gates and long drives are ordinary rather than exceptional. Directions and access details go in the request like any driveway.
The list
Acreage households run wide lists: pianos, shop tools, greenhouse glass, full-property clear-outs. Named early, it is part of the plan; discovered at the dock, it is a second sailing. Say what the outbuildings hold.
What happens after you send the form
The mover calls back and confirms the date window, the truck size the crossing allows, and the island-side access. The quote comes back with the ferry already in it, and Washington's written-estimate rule applies on the island same as the mainland.
Coverage
The town center, Burton, Dockton, Maury Island, and the acreage between. Pick Vashon on the form and the request goes to the mover who schedules around the ferry.
