North Seattle moving, without the guesswork

North Seattle is a different move than Capitol Hill or Ballard. Driveways behind post-war ramblers keep the walk from truck to door short, and the tradeoffs show up elsewhere: steep grades on the ridge streets, busy curb space around Green Lake, and apartment rows around Northgate that run their own building rules. Most of what slows a move here comes down to house age, street width, and how many flights stand between the curb and your front door.

The houses

Maple Leaf and Wedgwood are the same story brick by brick: 1950s tract houses with narrow hallways, basement storage levels, and garages that doubled as workshops. Lake City is a later mix of mid-century buildings alongside those older homes, and Bitter Lake leans toward smaller apartments stacked over garages. Each type brings its own load problem: narrow basement stairs, low garage clearances, or a second floor reached through two tight turns and a landing. The mover asks because those details change the crew and the timetable.

The grades

Homes on the ridge above the lake let the truck park level but leave the carry running uphill at an angle. A truck on a grade is a different loading operation than flat ground, and the mover plans for it with the right crew count for sustained uphill carries.

Northgate

The apartment buildings around the station area want elevator reservations through management before movers arrive, same pattern as the towers on the Eastside. The mover handles the reservation side; your part is naming the building when you send the form.

The lake blocks

Streets around Green Lake keep tight curb space on weekends. You cannot change that, but you can say which block you are on, and the mover plans the truck spot from there.

What happens after you send the form

The mover calls back, confirms your street type, your driveway situation, your stairs, and whatever else is worth flagging ahead of time. The quote comes back reflecting what it actually takes to load and carry your place.
